About Chris and Monica Dunlap

Our Story

Back in 1999, inspired by a friend’s newly purchased log home, we set out to own and live in one ourselves. We spent the next 9 months attending seminars, log home shows, reviewing magazines, books, websites, floor plans and log home companies, all while searching for land. (Sound familiar?). To make our lives more exciting, we also decided to be owner builders, since we had building experience working for Habitat for Humanity and other projects.

After due consideration, we purchased a 2,500 sq. ft. custom New Castle from owner builders Bill & Sharon, local dealers for the Original Lincoln Logs. Their experience and assistance was invaluable to us. We spent the next 2 years building it ourselves on weeknights and weekends. Our daughter Sophie was born shortly after moving in to our new log home – what a great place to raise a child!

In 2004, we decided to build a 550 sq. ft. guest cabin on our property. As terrific as the first experience was, of course it had to be an Original Lincoln Logs cabin! We found we loved showing off our house and sharing our passion for log homes with everyone we met. Working with Lincoln as a customer across 4 years was such a great experience, that we decided to become dealers that same year.

Our Business

It takes more than logs to build a log home. Being in the log home business requires much more! It takes Dealers who are committed to serving you and helping you to realize your dream. We went into the business to do just that, be there every step of the way, from custom design services, walking your land site with you, or laying logs. We have the experience in both hands-on assembly and working with contractors to help you make your new home a reality.

Dunlap Log Homes is a member of the Better Business Bureau. As business owners, we have had a successful privately-owned business, Dunlap Services, since 1996 (also a BBB member). We have a sales office in Columbus and model homes in Centerburg, Ohio, which are open to view by appointment any day of the week. We also periodically hold Log Home Building Seminars.

The Original Lincoln Logs is a charter member of the Log Home Council, and the National Association of Home Builders. In business since 1977, Lincoln is one of the leaders in the manufactured log home industry. They are well-known for their superior quality, variety of options, strength in customizations, and excellent customer service. We cannot say enough about their honesty, integrity and determination!
