F.A.Q.

I already have a design that I like. Do I have to pick one of the standard floor plans from the Original Lincoln Logs?
Custom plans are always welcome. You may select one of Lincoln’s plans (we have over 150) as is or make customizations to it, or bring us something completely different that you’ve seen or created. Lincoln has a professional staff of designers and engineers to work on your personal log home design to help bring your dreams to life.

How many profiles and corner styles do you offer?
We have 11 different profiles (“shapes” such as D-log and Swedish Cope in varying sizes) available and 5 different corner styles to choose from. Additional log options include getting a hand-hewn effect, western-fill corners, or even a J-groove for decorative chinking (for square logs).

What comes with the package?
The Original Lincoln Logs provides one of the more complete packages on the market, including everything (down to doorknobs) to make a weather-tight shell/exterior, and structural framing for the interior. You or your contractor will need to prepare the site and build the foundation and first floor deck before delivery (allowing us to begin stacking logs immediately). Contact us for a more detailed materials list for the building system of your choice.

Why doesn’t the package include appliances, interior finish, etc?
Many of these items, such as appliances, are best obtained locally, and many homeowners wish to make these selections personally. We do offer several interior finish options, such as wood tongue-and-groove walls, ceilings and floors. If these are of interest to you, we’d be happy to include them!

If we decide to purchase an Original Lincoln Logs home from Dunlap Log Homes what will you do for us?
Our relationship lasts from concept through completion. We are there when your package is delivered, and check in on-site periodically throughout the building process. Our goal is to see your dream become a reality. Please see “Services” and “About Us” for more details of how we can help you.

Do I have to find a local or 3rd party engineer to stamp blueprints to get a building permit?
No, unlike most log home companies, Lincoln has a staff of engineers that certify your blueprints to be structurally sound and compliant to your local building code requirements. Even where building code is not strict, it is important to know that a professional engineer has reviewed the blueprints to ensure a solidly engineered home.

The use and treatment of the heartwood.
Our Eastern White Pine is harvested from managed northern forests. We use the stable heartwood for our logs, and ensure the excess is not wasted.
